The unexpected

There are some things you experience in life that are just plain unexpected. Some of these things are hard, some exciting, some thought provoking. But wouldn't you agree that those unexpected experiences are usually a gift?

Yesterday our little LDS branch did a service project up on the Mount of Olives. We picked olives for hours in order to help a Lutheran hospital on their quest to provide good care for poor Palestinians.

We filled several big bags....

In order to raise money, they then press the olives for oil, and put them in hand blown glass bottles to sell.

Awesome.

Unexpected, but awesome.

Do olive trees have thorns? I always thought for some reason that they have thorns, but if Joni is picking olivies, then I don't think they do. Hmmm...just wondering.

That is so surreal...Joni is picking olives on the Mount of Olives...I hope she remembers these things!

I just read the comment you left on my blog. I was kidding about Lance. He is in your neck of the woods, but I'm sure he wouldn't be able to travel that far.
We're down to about 18 days before he comes home, but who's counting? I shouldn't be because I know how this whole thing works and I know not to count on the time they tell you.
